Rowing Wraps Up Spring Scrimmages at Lehigh

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The final of two spring scrimmages took place for Villanova Rowing today with the Wildcats taking on Lehigh in Allentown, Pa.

"This was a great opportunity to check in with our training plan and see what tweaks we need to make for our upcoming Spring campaign," Villanova head coach Carissa Adams said. "This year, we have been working on 'doing hard better' and this week was a testament to our athletes having evolved in this area. I am proud of the eagerness they have brought to practice and the grit they demonstrated on the water this morning.  We are onPACE and finding success with our plan."

Both of the team's scrimmages this month took place away from the Main Line with the 'Cats taking on familiar faces. The group started the month with a training trip down in Gainesville, Fla, where it took on Jacksonville for a second consecutive year. This year's trip to face Lehigh came with different conditions than the team saw in the Sunshine State as the Wildcats and the Mountain Hawks raced in the elements on Saturday.

"We had a really productive day on the water this morning," Adams said. "I want to thank Lehigh Rowing for hosting our team again this year.  Although the weather was cold and wet both teams did a tremendous job working through the challenge.

"I would be remiss to not give a shout out to the parents that weathered the storm to cheer us on. They are the best fan base in the country, and I am grateful for the ongoing support they give to our team. It takes a village to uplevel a program and our village is wide with our supportive administration, support staff, parents, fans, alumni, credible coaching staff and our strong student-athletes."

The spring officially gets underway for the Wildcats next week as the team heads to Cherry Hill, N.J. for the Doc Hosea Invitational on March 30.
