SOUTH ORANGE, NJ – Villanova put together their most complete performance as a team this season, winning game two against Seton Hall 8-1 in New Jersey.
The bats for Villanova got going early and often. In the first inning the Wildcats were able to put up two runs from an RBI single into right field. The momentum would carry into the second inning with a one-run RBI single and a two-run RBI double to extend the lead to 5-0.
After a scoreless third for Villanova, a two-run homer struck in the fourth giving the team a 7-0 lead.
The Pirates were held scoreless through the first four innings but were finally able to score in the fifth. An RBI single to right field put Seton Hall on the board.
Villanova responded with a pair of sacrifice flies in the sixth and seventh to take their largest lead of the game, 9-1.
Seton Hall added one more in the seventh to get our final score, 9-2.
Nova Notes
- Michael Whooley smacks his second home run of the season. The sophomore tallied four RBI on the day to pass his season total from a year ago (15) already, he now has 17 on the season. Whooley went 2-4 with a walk.
- Starting pitcher Luke McCollough dominated on the mound en route to his third win of the season. McCollough pitched six innings allowing only four hits, one run and striking out three.
- The BIG EAST doubles leader Jack O'Reilly adds another in the game. The senior recorded three hits and two RBI.
- Jason Neff adds two RBI of his own in the game. The transfer went 1-2 at the plate with two walks.

- Michael Whooley singled to right field in the first inning, scoring Jack O'Reilly and Dylan Dennis, 2-0 Villanova.
- In the second inning, Jack O'Reilly doubled to left field, scoring AJ Hansen and Shane Solari, 4-0.
- Jason Neff added another in the second inning, hitting an RBI single to left field scoring Jack O'Reilly, 5-0.
- In the fourth Michael Whooley hit a two-run home run to left field, 7-0.
- Devin Hack singled to right field in the fifth inning, scoring Nick Ferri, 7-1.
- Jason Neff scores in the sixth after Cam Hassert hits a sac fly, 8-1.
- In the seventh inning, AJ Hansen scored on a sac fly by Jason Neff, 9-1.
- Devin Hack doubled down the line, scoring Nick Ferri in the seventh, 9-2.
