HAMILTON, N.Y. – Villanova finished the first round of play in fifth place with a combined team score of four over at the Alex Lagowitz Memorial Invitational hosted by Colgate University.
The Wildcats are in fifth behind Navy and Yale, who both shot one over to achieve a first place finish through round one, and Seton Hall and the host team Colgate, who are tied for third place at three over.
The event was halted by a weather delay caused by rain in the area at 11:30 a.m. and resumed play at 12:30 p.m. The delay resulted in the cancellation of the second round and the tournament was modified to consist of two rounds of 18 holes. The final round will be played as originally scheduled tomorrow.
Ryan Pamer finished round one tied for first place. He finished five under (67). Pamer recorded three birdies and an eagle. He was one of only two players in the tournament to have an eagle in round one.
Vibhav Alokam finished strong in his collegiate debut at three over (75), which puts him tied for 36
th among the field of competitors.
Nathan Marion ended round one tied for 36
th at three over (75). He tallied three birdies on the day.
Joshua Lavely birdied three holes on the way to finishing tied with Alokam and Marion for 36
th place at three over (75).
Cameron Besaw shot six over (78) and tied for 73
rd through the first day of competition.
Matt Zerfass shot eight over (80) and is tied for 87
th place. He added a birdie as well.

Tomorrow, Sunday, September 1, will consist of the final round of 18 holes and an award ceremony. The final round will start at 9:00 a.m. with a shotgun start.
