• St. John's is still in search of its first BIG EAST win of the season after a 4-0 loss to No. 15 Georgetown on Oct. 4. So far in conference play, the Johnnies are being outscored 10-2 with their only goals coming at Marquette (L, 1-3) and against Providence (T, 1-1). Their last league win was on Oct. 31, 2024, taking down Creighton 1-0 in the season finale.
• The lone wins St. John's has seen this season came early in the campaign, defeating Saint Joseph's, 1-0, and Youngstown State, 2-1, in back-to-back games to end August. Since then, the team has gone 0-5-4.
• The Red Storm has built a 1-2-3 record on its home pitch in 2025. The loss to Georgetown this past week ended a three-match string of draws.
• Kayla Bower leads the BIG EAST with 67 saves 5.58 save per game on the year, putting her 16th and 20th in the nation, respectively. Her .798 save percentage is second in the league and 97th nationally.
• Madison Mariani and Jaylen Vallecillo lead the Johnnies with two goals each this season but Mariani has added an assist for a team-best five points.
• St. John's was slated to finish 10th in the BIG EAST Preseason Poll after a 1-6-3 showing in BIG EAST play last year, 6-7-5 overall. Jailene DeJesus was the lone Johnnie to be named an All-BIG EAST selection, landing a spot on the Third Team.

• Villanova wraps up a three-match road streak with this trip to Queens, coming off of a 1-0 win at DePaul on Oct. 1 after a 9-0 loss at No. 24 Xavier.
• Of the seven matches the Wildcats have won this season, six have been via shutouts. Those clean sheet victories mark the most in a season for the program since the 2019 team won eight shutout matches.
• The win at DePaul marked Villanova's first win despite playing a player down in modern history. Téa Gambardella was shown a red card in the 31st minute before Dez Zapata netted the game-winner in the 70th minute. Her goal was the first of her career and made her the sixth goal scorer for the team this season.
• Villanova is working to grab back-to-back BIG EAST wins after the win at DePaul. The 'Cats have not seen consecutive league victories since 2019 when they closed the regular season with a pair of 1-0 wins at Providence and Creighton.
• With three weeks left in the regular season, Villanova sits at fifth in the BIG EAST standings with six points. The 'Cats are two points out of fourth place, trailing Marquette at eight points.
• This will be the 34th meeting between Villanova and St. John's since 1987 with the series sitting at 14-14-5.
• Villanova started the series with a streak of dominance until a shift went the Johnnies way in 2011. During the first Prior to that season, Villanova had gone 13-3-2 in the series, capping that stretch with a 3-0 on the Main Line on Oct. 3, 2008. Since then, the 'Cats have gone 1-11-3 with that lone win coming on Oct. 2, 2022, also at home.
• The Wildcats 5-10-3 when playing in Queens, falling in 10 consecutive trips to the Empire State. The last Blue and White win at St. John's was on Sept. 10, 2000 when the 'Cats left with a 1-0 victory.

On the Open Road: Villanova is on the road nine times in 2025, currently sitting at 3-3 away from the Main Line this year. With head coach Samar Azem at the helm, Villanova has gone 10-15-7 away in road games.

Familiar Foes: Since joining the league in 1995, Villanova is 105-140-37 against the BIG EAST. With Azem at the helm, the 'Cats have gone 8-17-9 against conference foes.

A 1-0 Win With 10 on the Field: Villanova left DePaul on Oct. 1 with a 1-0 victory despite playing a player down for nearly 60 minutes. Téa Gambardella was shown a red card in the 31st minute before Dez Zapata netted the game-winner in the 70th minute. That result was the first time in modern history that the 'Cats pulled away for a victory while playing with 10 on the pitch. The last time Villanova won a contest with a red card on its ledger was back in 2019 when a red card was shown in the 90th minute of a 1-0 win over Xavier.

Villanova 1, DePaul 0 | October 1, 2025 - Chicago, Ill. - Wish Field

Despite playing a person down for 60 minutes after a 31st minute red card on Tea Gambardella, Villanova left Chicago with a 1-0 win over DePaul to start the month of October. Dez Zapata came off the bench and netted the game winner in the 70th minute, marking the first of her career and ending a 277-minute stretch of play for the 'Cats without a goal since Sept. 20. The win was the first at DePaul since 2011, ending a streak of six straight losses in the Windy City. DePaul had a pair of shot attempts come in the final 12 minutes from Sierra Bennett and Sienna Gonzalez, but Hannah Dickinson was there to save both, keeping the win intact for her fifth shutout of the season. The Wildcats finished with a 10-6 shot advantage, 4-2 in shots on goal. Gabby Koluch led everyone on the pitch with three attempts.
