Men's Tennis Closes Out Fall Season At Dragon Invite

PHILADELPHIA, Pa.- The Villanova men's tennis team closed out the fall season by competing at the Dragon Invite this weekend, November 7-9, taking place at both Villanova and Drexel.

Villanova opened the tournament with two doubles matchups, first taking on Temple. The duo of Frattarelli/Benoit delivered the Wildcats' first win of the weekend with a commanding 6–2 victory. Villanova's second match of the day came against FDU, where Jones/Sherner posted an impressive 6–3 win to close out Day 1 on a positive note.

The Wildcats returned to action on Saturday for singles play against NJIT. Will Monahan earned Villanova's top win of the day, securing a straight-set 6–4, 6–4 victory. Ethan Solop followed with one of the closest matches of the session, grinding out a pair of tight tiebreak sets to win 7–6(5), junior Thomas Wakefield was leading his match before his opponent retired, giving Villanova its third singles win of the day. Sophomore Cameron Kruep pushed his match to a third-set tiebreak after taking the opening set, but ultimately fell in a narrow 11–13 decision

Up Next: This was the last fall invite for Villanova this season. They will now look to get ready for the spring campaign.
