BRYN MAWR, Pa. – The Villanova University men's tennis team fell to Rider, 4-3, on Saturday night (Feb. 15) at the Bryn Mawr Racquet Club.
 
In doubles, the top-flighted team of Will Monahan and Justin Frattarelli fell to Cole Thurgur and Matteus Dahlin, 6-4. However, Cooper Gordon and Trey Fourticq defeated Dhruv Tangri and Giacomo Ghitti, 6-3, and Thomas Wakefield and Kush Anand took down Roger Martinez and Nathan Slattery, 6-0, to claim the doubles point for the Wildcats.
 
In singles, Dahlin defeated Gordon in a tightly contested match, 7-6 (2), 4-6, 7-5. Slattery took down Wakefield, 6-2, 2-6, 7-6 (8). Monahan cruised to a win over Matt Griscti, 6-1, 6-1. Thurger defeated Fourticq, 6-4, 6-1. Anand won in straight sets over Martinez, 6-1, 6-1. At the bottom of the card, Axel Engstrom defeated Quincy Jones in three sets, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3.
 
Up next, the Wildcats will face Bucknell next Saturday (Feb. 22) at Bryn Mawr Racquet Club. The match will begin at 6:30 p.m.
