Golf in Second Place After Two Rounds at The People's Championship

Three Wildcats are in the top 20 after the first two rounds

ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – Villanova rose up the leaderboard to place second out of 20 teams after two rounds of The People's Championship in St. Simons Island. The Wildcats tied for the second lowest round of the day, shooting 282.

The Wildcats are fifteen strokes ahead of UNC Greensboro after shooting two under as a team on day two.

Matt Zerfass and Vibhav Alokam are both seven under combined through 36 par four holes. They both rank within the top 10 in individual play as well after stellar showings in the second round. VU has the second most birdies of all teams (39), after tallying 20 on day two, one higher than their first-round total.

Zerfass shot up the leaderboard on day two after carding 68 (-3) and five birdies in the second round. He shot 32 (-3) on the front nine and even (36) on the back nine. He has totaled a 138 (-4) after two days, placing him sixth on the individual leaderboard.

Vibhav Alokam was able to keep the momentum going across the front nine, shooting two under (33), while maintaining a 26-hole bogeyless streak. Two holes required extra shots on the back nine, but he made up for that with two birdies, ending the final hole at 37 (+1), good for 70 (-1) on day two. So far, Alokam has shot 139 (-3) over the first two rounds.

Ryan Pamer had a fantastic showing on day two, moving up to tied for 17th after shooting 68 (-3). He is shooting four under across all par five holes and sunk six birdies in the second round. Pamer also matched Zerfass, shooting 32 (-3) on the front nine, and now sits at 141 (-1) going into the third round.

Vickers had a rough go on the back nine, shooting four over (40), but his front nine kept him in check, at 36 (+1). The graduate student is tied for 35th after the second round. His three birdies on the day keep him in the lead among all Wildcat golfers.

Ian Love and Joshua Lavely are both tied for 114th after two days of competing. The freshman carded a 39 on the front nine and a 38 on the back nine to finish at 77 (+6) on the day. The Michigan native, competing as an individual, finished at 75 (+4) on day two after a 36 (+1) and a 39 (+3) day.

Lavely will tee off at 9:10 A.M. on the final day of competition with a member of Tennessee Tech and Siena, and the rest will follow starting at 1:20 P.M. as they clinched the second spot. The starting five will be golfing with UNCG and Richmond on day three.
