PENNSAUKEN, N.J. – The first event of the spring brought Petite Final showings for all four of Villanova's boats Saturday at the Doc Hosea Invitational on the Cooper River.
 
The V8 team of Gianna Zajac, Maggie Coyne, Bailey Bryan, Sylvia Marks, Jalyn Colon, Jadyn Ramos, Cecilia Jenkins, Silvana Torres and Kira Capaldi were fourth in the first heat of the day at 6:45.161. The 'Cats went on to finish sixth in the Petite Final with a time of 6:53.364.
 
Both of those times from the V8 mark the fastest by a Villanova boat in each of the last three times the team has raced in the event. The previous best mark was a 6:55.88 time from the V8 in 2023.
 
In the 2V8, Cate Donnelly, Natalia Peng, Sarah Robillard, Ava DeJong, Anna Primmer, Olivia Weglarz, Maddie Sumnar, Ella Carriero and Grace Quirk posted a 7:17.377 time in the opening heats. They took nearly 10 seconds off their time in the finals, crossing fifth in the Petite Final at 7:08.201.
 
Kate Shipley, Natalia Brozyna, Mary Tracy, Sabrina Pauli and Isabelle Rotival in the V4 posted an 8:14.232 that landed them fourth in their heat. They crossed fifth in the Petite Final at 8:18.569.
 
The 3V8 group of Abby Shang, Meg Wolf, Rose Baker, Emmi Stanton, Sarah McKee, Lilly-Kate Foley, Mary Eagle, Abigail Saraceno and Taylor Pansy were sixth in the final heat of the morning at 7:56.522. They closed out the day with an 8:05.386 time in the Petite Final that gave them third place.
 
Villanova takes a week away from competition before getting back onto the Cooper River for the Knecht Cup on April 12 and 13.
