IRVINE, Calif. – The Villanova University men's tennis team fell in the final game of its California trip to No. 41-ranked UC Irvine, 7-0, on Tuesday (March 4) at the Anteater Tennis Stadium.
In doubles competition,
Trey Fourticq and
Thomas Wakefield claimed an early lead for Villanova, defeating Max Fardanesh and Rithvik Krishna, 6-2. However, UC Irvine took the next two doubles matches, securing the doubles point for the 'Eaters.
In singles, the Anteaters took all six matches in straight sets. In the sixth flight, freshman
Quincy Jones pushed Mason Bui to an extra game in the second set, but ultimately fell and lost the match, 6-1, 7-5.
Up next, the Wildcats will return to the Main Line to face Nichols College on Wednesday, March 12, at the Bryn Mawr Racquet Club. The match is slated to begin at 12:30 p.m. ET.
