RALEIGH, N.C. – Villanova wrapped up its six races on Friday at the Lake Wheeler Invitational with total team points.
The V4 boat of
Cate Donnelly,
Maddie Sumnar,
Ava DeJong,
Sarah McKee and
Olivia Weglarz started the day for Villanova finishing sixth in their first round race, crossing in 8:13.513. Later on, Weglarz subbed into DeJong's seat with
Emmi Stanton moving into Weglarz's original spot as the boat made an eight-second improvement in the second round, crossing sixth again but with a time of 8:05.671.
In the 2V8,
Kate Shipley,
Natalia Peng,
Sarah Robillard,
Grace Quirk,
Anna Primmer Ella Carriero,
Mary Tracy,
Isabelle Rotival and
Natalia Brozyna were fifth in their first-round race with a time of 7:02.136, crossing seven seconds ahead of Jacksonville. The afternoon saw the squad shave almost six seconds off their time, posting a sixth-place time of 6:56.800.
The V8 team of
Gianna Zajac,
Maggie Coyne,
Bailey Bryan,
Jadyn Ramos,
Jalyn Colon,
Silvana Torres,
Cecilia Jenkins,
Sylvia Marks and
Kira Capaldi were also fifth in their first round race in a field that was separated by 19 seconds. The 'Cats were in a battle for fifth with Jacksonville, edging the Dolphins by under a second for a 6:50.470 finish. The afternoon resulted in a sixth-place finish for the Wildcats, clocking in at 6:56.351.
Saturday at the Invite gets started at 9 a.m. Villanova will race the V4 at 10:20 a.m., 2V8 at 10:50 a.m. and the V8 at 11:20 a.m. Fans can watch the action from Lake Wheeler on
