OKATIE, S.C. – Men's Golf is in eighth place after the first round of the 2025 BIG EAST Men's Golf Championship.

Marquette and Butler share the team lead at three under, while the Golden Eagles' Mason Schmidtke shot five-under 67, claiming the top spot thus far.

Vibhav Alokam is tied for fourth after the first round, after shooting three-under 69.

All five Wildcats shot below one-over on the front nine, and four of the five golfers shot at or below their stroke average.

THE LINEUP
Alokam shot even on the front nine, tallying both a bogey and a birdie. The freshman was able to turn it on during the back nine, carding three-under 33 while notching four birdies.

Ryan Pamer shot two-under 54 through the first 14, but three bogeys on the final four holes brought him to one-over 73. Pamer will be one to watch down the stretch to be among the top of the leaderboard after showing what he can do on this course through the beginning of the event. He is tied for 17th after the first day of competition.

Matt Zerfass and Jackson Lehner recorded identical rounds of par and four-over 40 on the day. Lehner out birdied Zerfass three to two, but both had solid first rounds and are bound to stick with the rest of the pack over the next two days.

Gus Vickers shot one-over 37 on the front nine and three-over 39 on the back nine, tying with Zerfass and Lehner at four-over 76.

All three of those 'Cats are tied for 36th.

PAIRINGS
On day two, the 'Cats will be partnered up with Seton Hall, teeing off every nine minutes from 8:45 to 9:21 A.M., in reverse order of finish, starting with Lehner.
