The team clinched their highest finish since 2012; Ryan Pamer tied for seventh

OKATIE, S.C. – Men's Golf tied for fourth in this year's iteration of the BIG EAST Championship, held at Callawassie Island Golf Club in Okatie, S.C.

Villanova recorded their highest team finish since 2012, and Ryan Pamer tying for seventh place is VU's highest individual finish since Peter Weaver tied for fifth in 2023 when he shot one-over 217.

The Wildcats shot 294-289-289=872 at the event, with the final two days shot at one-over par. They had the fifth lowest score on day three.

Marquette claimed the team title, shooting 17-under 847 as a team. Alex Heard from UConn continued on his torrid pace from day two, shooting four-under 68 in round three to take the top spot among individuals.

THE LINEUP

Pamer shot two-under 70 to finish the event tied for seventh. The 70 is his second-lowest round at the BIG EAST Championship, as he carded a 69 in the second round as a freshman in 2023. Pamer made four birdies and shot par or under on 16 of 18 holes. On his first nine of the day, he shot two-under 34 and followed that up by shooting an even 36. The junior's two-under 214 ties his lowest 54-hole score of the season, which he achieved at the Golden Horseshoe Intercollegiate. His finish in seventh is a career best in this event and is his 17th career top 10 finish.

Vibhav Alokam shot one-under 71 to tie for 16th at his first career postseason event. He ended the tournament at two-over 218. The freshman shot six-under 34 over his first 10 holes, which included four birdies and an eagle. His eagle tied with eight other players who also tallied one in the event. It was the first two-under hole for a Wildcat since he did it on October 14 at the Georgetown Intercollegiate. Alokam also placed within the top 10 for birdies, totaling 11 across the 54 holes.

Pamer and Alokam both tallied top five finishes in a round during the event, with Pamer's tie for fifth place on the day happening in the final go-around, while the freshman started the event tied for fourth after the first day.

Those two also placed in the top 10 on par fours. Pamer carded two-under, while Alokam shot par.

Jackson Lehner shot even at 72 for the second day in a row, helping him place tied for 23rd at four-over 220 in his final collegiate event. Lehner recorded two birdies on the day and shot 36 for par on both sides of the course.

Matt Zerfass shot 38 on both nines, finishing at four-over 76, tying him for 32nd among all competitors. He shot seven-over 223 in his final event of his first season at Villanova.

Gus Vickers closed out a storied career in this event, shooting 16-over 232 in the tournament. On the final day, he shot nine-over 81, including shooting even on the back nine.

Villanova shot fourth in the event across all par four holes, shooting 18-over but averaging a 4.11 stroke average on those holes.
