Women's Soccer Hosts Lehigh Sunday

MATCH CENTRAL

  VILLANOVA vs LEHIGH

 SEPTEMBER 7 | 4 P.M. | HIGGINS SOCCER COMPLEX

Bella Panaccione

Looking to build on the momentum it ended August with, Villanova comes back home on Sunday to host Lehigh at 4 p.m. at Higgins Soccer Complex.

Villanova (3-2) owns a three-match winning streak, shutting down Columbia, George Mason and Bucknell by a combined 4-0 margin. This is the second time in as many seasons that the Wildcats have pieced together a three-match shutout streak and the third time since 2019. This current streak also marks the longest active winning streak among BIG EAST sides. A win over Lehigh (2-2-1) would be the longest single-season win streak for the 'Cats since 2021 when they won six in a row while a draw would mark the longest unbeaten streak since the 2023 team started the season with nine consecutive unbeaten results.

Sunday is the 15th meeting between the Wildcats and Mountain Hawks since 1983 in a series that Villanova leads 8-3-3. Matches played of the Main Line have gone 6-2-1 in favor of the ‘Cats with a 24-6 scoring advantage. They have gone back-to-back games against Lehigh without a loss, playing to a 1-1 draw on August 20, 2023 and picking up a 4-0 win on August 26, 2018.

Lehigh comes to town with an unbeaten streak of its own, going 2-0-1 after dropping its first two games of the season. Fourth-year head coach Lauren Calabrese’s squad has gone 2-1 in road games this season with the lone loss being a 3-0 falter at Maryland to open the year. They trail in scoring on the road by a slim 5-4 margin.
