• Lehigh is riding a three-game unbeaten streak into Sunday’s contest with the most recent being a 1-1 draw against Drexel. After dropping the first two games to Maryland and Binghamton, the Mountain Hawks picked up a pair of 2-1 wins over La Salle and NJIT.
• Fourth-year head coach Lauren Calabrese’s squad has gone 2-1 in road games this season with the lone loss being a 3-0 falter at Maryland to open the year. They trail in scoring on the road by a slim 5-4 margin.
• Junior forward Cyndea Labissiere is the lone All-Patriot League team selection back from last season when she landed third-team honors. She has seen playing time in all five contests this season, totaling a shot in 125 minutes of action.
• Savannah Conner and Faith Dobosiewicz lead the Mountain Hawks offense this season with four points each on two goals. The scoring duo along with Sophia Lis all lead the team with six shot attempts but Lis has been the most efficient, landing five of her attempts on frame.
• Junior R’reeyah Mabry-Francis and senior Maggie Ousouljoglou have split time in net this season but Ousouljoglou has gotten all five of the starts. Ousouljoglou is 0-2 with 17 saves in those five starts, allowing six goals. Mabry-Francis has gone 2-0-1 with nine saves and two goals allowed.

• Sunday is the 15th meeting between Villanova and Lehigh since the series 1983 with Villanova leading 8-3-3. Matches played on the Main Line in that time have been favorable for the ‘Cats, going 6-2-1 in such games with a 24-6 scoring advantage. Five of those home contests resulted in shutout wins for the Blue and White with the last one coming on August 26, 2018 to the tune of a 4-0 victory.
• Villanova closed out August with three consecutive shutout wins, the second time in as many years they have achieved such a streak and the third time since 2019. Another clean sheet victory Sunday would match the 2008’s four-game streak. The longest string of shutout wins in team history is owned by the 2006 squad at seven which it achieved in the midst of a 15-game unbeaten streak with 10 straight wins. The ‘Cats have not allowed a goal in 313:26 minutes of action through this winning streak and own the longest active winning streak among BIG EAST teams.
• The Wildcats have built a 4-2 scoring advantage inside Higgins Soccer Complex this season. A win on Sunday would mark their third consecutive home win and their longest streak of home victories in a single season since the 2021 team pieced together four consecutive home wins. A tie would also give the ‘Cats their longest home unbeaten streak since the 2023 squad’s five-match run when it went 2-0-3 to start the season at Higgins.
• Four different Wildcats have scored goals this season led by a two-goal effort from Hannah Curtin so far.
• Curtin and Hannah Dickinson landed BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll spots this past week, marking the first time since Sept. 30, 2024 that two ‘Cats were honored in the same week.

Against the Patriot League: Against Patriot League sides, Villanova is 33-13-6 all-time. This is the second straight game the Wildcats have played against the league, taking down Bucknell on August 31, 1-0. The ‘Cats have gone 2-1-2 against the Patriot League since Samar Azem became the head coach in 2022.

Consistent Cardo: Sophomore midfielder Amalia Cardo has provided a consistent push for the Villanova offense through the first five games, accounting for at least a point in four of those contests. She scored a goal against Michigan in the season-opener and has had an assist in each of the last three games. Those three matches with a point mark back-to-back seasons that a Wildcat has had a trio of consecutive scoring outings with Susanna Soderman having a goal in three straight last year. If Cardo gets a point for a fourth contest, it would be the longest streak by a Wildcat since Chloe O’Neill had at least one point in seven straight to open the 2021 season.

Shutting It Down: With three consecutive clean sheets on the year, Hannah Dickinson has landed herself in a tie for 17th nationally for shutouts this season. She is tied for first among BIG EAST keepers, sitting atop the list with Marquette’s Hailey Wade. As a defensive unit, the Wildcats are tied for 36th nationally for shutouts with a .600 shutout percentage that is good enough for 33rd.

An early second half goal and yet another shutdown performance from the defense helped Villanova to its third straight shutout win It was the first road victory for the ‘Cats since oct. 17, 2024 and the fifth in the series with Bucknell. Amalia Cardo and Hannah Curtain linked up for the second time in three games to give Villanova the winning edge it needed as Cardo placed a beautiful free kick in front of Curtin for the 48th minute goal. Cardo has had an assist in three consecutive games to move to a team-high five points on the year. now leads the team with five points. Curtin’s two goals on the season are also a team-high. Hannah Dickinson grabbed two saves in her third solo shutout of the year, bringing her to nine in her Villanova career. A handball in the penalty box gave Bucknell a chance to level the contest in the 72nd minute. Riley Hayes lined up for penalty kick but sent it flying over the net, keeping the one-goal lead in place for the ‘Cats.
