ORLANDO, Fla. – The Villanova Wildcats Spirit Squad showcased their talent at the 2026 UCA & UDA College Cheerleading & Dance Team National Championships, held at the Walt Disney Resort from January 16-18. The weekend was highlighted by the Wildcats Dance team earning a ninth-place finish in the Jazz Routine category and a sixth-place finish in the Game Day Routine category.
The Dance team's ninth-place finish in the Jazz Routine category marks the first time the team has made it to Finals since 2022 and only the third time overall in the history of the program, while being the second time in program history that the team has placed in the top 10 in the country. It is the first time the team has made it to Finals in the Game Day Routine category since its inception in 2023.
"The team entered this season with big goals that felt challenging," head dance coach Crystal Pizarro said. "I am beyond proud that through fierce determination, commitment and strength, we exceeded these goals. This is a team of talented young women who truly want to be here, are passionate about Villanova and are hungry to accomplish even more in future Nationals competitions."
Will D. Cat also showcased his energy, creativity and Villanova pride as he lit up the Nationals stage, garnering a third-place finish in the Open Mascot Routine category, one spot higher than he earned last season.
Although the Villanova Cheerleaders did not make it to the Final Round in the All-Girl Traditional Routine category, the team showcased a high-flying performance and hopes to use the experience to achieve greater success next season.
"I am so proud of each and every one of our student-athletes for their relentless effort and dedication this Nationals season," head cheerleading coach Jamie Brodie said. "Our Cheerleading program's Nationals journey is defined by the team's growth. Each member supported one another and shared some unforgettable moments on the mat. Our returners are motivated and excited to get back to practice and to keep improving our skills in preparation for next year's Nationals season."
