JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Villanova swimming team earned a 161-93 victory in a dual meet over the University of North Florida on Wednesday. The women's team recorded 29 top three finishes and won 10 events. Since the Ospreys only have a women's program, the men swam for time and did not compete against athletes from another school.
Villanova opened the meet with a sweep in the 200 Medley relay and followed with a podium sweep in the 200 Free.
Riley Kudlac placed first in 1:53.21, followed by
Kayla Bolster in 1:54.19 and
Anna Farley in 1:54.39.
In the 1000 Free,
Peri Gaguzis touched first in 10:27.18, while
Marlene Blanke finished second in 10:39.87.
The Wildcats posted another 1-2-3 finish in the 100 Back.
Alana Leen led the way in 57.31, followed by
Jana Strand in 59.03 and
Arabella Lee in 59.97.
Emily Herr and
Winnie Jalet tied for first in the 100 Breast, each touching the wall in 1:05.54.
Meghan Tiernan earned a victory in the 200 Fly with a time of 2:02.90.
Katie White finished second in 2:05.76, and
Annie Mee placed third in 2:08.73.
The 50 Free also belonged to the 'Cats, with
Carlota Colomer Guasch taking first (24.10), followed by Bolster in second (24.55), and
Alyssa McHale in third (24.73).
Kudlac earned her second win of the meet in the 100 Free with a time of 52.19. Leen also secured her second victory in the 200 Back, winning in 2:02.68.
Imogen Duffy finished second in 2:07.55, followed by Gaguzis in 2:09.21.
The Wildcats added three more top three finishes in the 200 Breast, led by
Annie Honkamp in 2:20.14. Herr placed second in 2:20.59, and Jalet finished third in 2:22.48.
On the men's side,
Zach Sutter clocked 20.51 in the 50 Free, lowering his personal best of 20.55 set Tuesday against Florida State. He remains fourth on the program's all-time performers list.
The women return home to face the University of Richmond on Jan. 16. at 11:00 AM.
