VILLANOVA, Pa. – The Villanova University men's tennis team returns home on Saturday, February 21, to host Colgate University at 6:30 p.m.
The Wildcats enter the weekend looking to bounce back after a pair of 6-1 road losses last week to United States Naval Academy and George Mason University.
Against Navy, the Midshipmen seized early momentum by clinching the doubles point and carried it into singles play, winning five of six matches. Thomas Wakefield secured the lone point for Villanova with a straight-sets victory in singles.
In the matchup with George Mason, Villanova again dropped the doubles point to start the day. The Patriots claimed five of six singles matches, with Ethan Carr earning the Wildcats' only point at No. 4 singles in straight sets.
Colgate brings a 2-2 overall record into the weekend. The Raiders have alternated wins and losses through their first four matches, falling to Duquesne University, defeating Saint Francis University, dropping a match to Siena College, and most recently earning a win over Niagara University. Colgate is scheduled to face Wagner College on Friday before traveling to Villanova.
