Villanova University Athletics will honor legendary former head women's basketball coach Harry Perretta at halftime of Saturday's game against Georgetown. Perretta will be enshrined in the Finneran Pavilion with a plaque recognizing his career accomplishments. This honor, on par with having a jersey retired for an athlete, will be a permanent display in the entrance to the home of Villanova Basketball.
Saturday's game will be the second meeting of the season between the two schools. The Wildcats tallied a 76-69 win at Georgetown on Dec. 4.
Jasmine Bascoe led all scorers in the game with 26 points, while
Brynn McCurry had 20 points on 6-of-11 shooting. Georgetown had three different players score 12 points, including Laila Jewett, Khia Miller and Summer Davis.
Villanova and Georgetown will be meeting for the 79th time on Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats lead the all-time series by a 54-24 count and have won 23 of the last 27 against the Hoyas, including 12 wins in a row.Â
It will also be Villanova's annual Women's Basketball Alumni Day on Saturday. More than 60 former Wildcats are expected to return for the event. There will be a pre-game reception for all the alums and the group will be brought on to the court and introduced at halftime.Â
Villanova enters play on Saturday having won 16 of the last 19 games. The Wildcats had won 10 in a row before losing at Marquette on Jan. 4.
