BRYN MAWR, Pa. — The Villanova University men's tennis team earned its second straight victory with a 4–2 win over Wagner on Saturday, February 7.
Wagner claimed the doubles point to open the match, taking victories on courts No. 1 and No. 3. The Villanova duo of
Kush Anand and
Thomas Wakefield provided the lone doubles win for the Wildcats, cruising to a 6–1 victory on court No. 2.
Villanova responded in singles play, winning four matches to secure the team victory. Wakefield battled through a three-set match on court No. 3 to earn a 6–0, 3–6, 6–4 win, while
Ethan Carr delivered a dominant 6–1, 6–1 victory on court No. 4. Anand added another point for the Wildcats with a 6–2, 6–4 win on court No. 5, and
Cameron Kruep closed out the scoring with a commanding 6–1, 6–0 result on court No. 6.
Cooper Gordon and
Will Monahan each competed in tightly contested three-set matches but were unable to secure wins on courts No. 1 and No. 2.
Despite dropping the doubles point, Villanova rallied in singles play to capture its second consecutive victory and improve to 2–2 overall.
