CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — The Villanova softball team closed out its weekend at the UVA Party at Palmer Classic with a 9-2 loss to Michigan Sunday.
The 'Cats (2-18) finished 2-3 on the weekend and finished its non-conference tournament slate.
Lexi Kobryn (L, 1-6) got her sixth start of the season, pitching an inning, striking out one, walking one and giving up two earned runs on five hits.
The Wolverines (15-4) struck first, scoring six runs in the first inning.
Michigan scored twice more in the second inning to make it 8-0.
A home run in the third gave the Wolverines a 9-0 lead before
Maranda Runco hit her second home run of the season, a two-run shot to make it a 9-2 game.
Carly Zych pitched 2 1/3 innings in relief, walking two and giving up three runs on five hits.
Maggie King closed out the contest in the circle for Villanova, pitching 2 2/3, striking out two and giving up a single hit.
