VILLANOVA, Pa. – Further testing has revealed that redshirt freshman forward
Matt Hodge (Limburg, Belgium) suffered a torn ACL in his right knee during the second half of Saturday night's game at St. John's. The injury will require surgery and sideline Hodge for the remainder of the 2025-26 season.
Â
"Matt is a tremendous person with an unbelievable work ethic," said Villanova head coach
Kevin Willard. Â "We know he will be back better than ever."
Â
Hodge started all 29 regular season games for the Wildcats after sitting out the 2024-25 season at Villanova due to an NCAA initial eligibility ruling. The 6-8 forward, who played prep basketball at St. Rose in New Jersey after coming to the United States from his native Belgium, averages 27.6 minutes, 9.2 points and 3.6 rebounds per game. He has connected on .452 of his field goal attempts and .368 of his attempts from beyond the 3-point arc.
Â
Villanova has two regular season games remaining. It visits DePaul on Wednesday night (8 p.m./NBC Sports Network and Peacock) and hosts Xavier on Saturday (noon, TNT and TruTV).
