NEWARK, Del. — The Villanova softball team fell 5-2 to Delaware at the Delaware Diamond Wednesday night.
The 'Cats (6-26) took an early lead, but the Blue Hens (15-17) scored five unanswered runs to take home the win.
Sophia Mount (L, 0-2) got the start for VU, pitching three innings, striking out one, walking one and giving up five runs on seven hits. Mount took the loss.
Grace Reed hit her second home run of the season and 13th of her career in the top of the first inning, a two-run shot which caromed off the left fielder's glove over the wall.
Delaware responded in the bottom of the second, scoring two runs to tie the contest at 2-2.
The Blue Hens added two more in the bottom of the third on a home run.
Both teams kept off the scoreboard for the final four innings.
Lexi Kobryn entered the circle for Villanova, pitching three scoreless innings, striking out one and allowing just one hit.
