CHESTER, Pa.—Junior middle distance runner
Ryan Beegle (Chatham, N.J.) finished first in the 1500 meters, two sprinters came in under 49 seconds in the 400 meters and Villanova wrapped up a busy weekend with a successful day at the Danny Curran Invitational on Saturday afternoon. A group of 17 athletes were in competition at George A. Hansell Track at Widener during the day.
Beegle paced the field in the 1500 meters with a winning time of 3:58.09 in his outdoor season debut. In addition to his result, the Wildcats tallied high finishes in both the 100 meters and the 400 meters.
Senior sprinter
Jimmy Milgie (Wildwood, Mo.) was close to a PR in the 400 meters despite cold and windy conditions on Saturday afternoon. He came in third out of more than 130 competitors with a time of 48.66, while freshman
Andy Geiser (Aldie, Va.) was fourth with a personal best mark of 48.80. Senior
Luke Rakowitz (Dallas, Texas) was also in the top 10 with a time of 49.42, while junior
Matthew Griffin (Whippany, N.J.) crossed the line in 49.63. Junior
Parker Turner (Los Angeles, Calif.), who has specialized in the shorter sprints during his career, tallied a personal best 400 meter time of 50.32.
Among other results, senior
Amiri Prescod (Chaguanas, Trinidad and Tobago) competed for the first time this calendar year and broke 11 seconds in the 100 meters with a time of 10.94. Freshman
Christos Batalias (New York, N.Y.) posted a time of 11.31 in addition to leading three Wildcats in the 200 meters with a time of 22.42. Freshman
Keaton Kuehr (Carmel, Ind.) and junior
Imevar Justice (Summit, N.J.) followed with marks of 22.53 and 22.59, respectively.
Saturday's meet was the second of the season for Villanova and the first time its hurdlers were in action. Senior
Ronan O'Neill (Wilmette, Ill.) came in sixth in the 400 meter hurdles in 56.38, followed by classmate
Sal Barretta (Whitestone, N.Y.) with a time of 56.98. The duo of freshman
Ty Hoffmann (Bellingham, Wash.) and sophomore
Liam Gluck (Beavercreek, Ohio) registered times of 58.74 and 58.75.
Graduate student
Tristan Bolinsky (Gordon, Pa.) came in fifth in the hammer with a mark of 56.49 meters and was followed by freshman
Theo Hedgemon (Atlanta, Ga.) who extended his personal best in the event to 48.58 meters. Senior
Sanjay Persaud (Bloomingburg, N.Y.) tallied a distance of 5.91 meters in the long jump.
