Men's Tennis To Host Coppin State Sunday

'Cats Welcome Eagles After California Trip

VILLANOVA, Pa. – The Villanova University men's tennis team will return home after a west coast trip. The Wildcats will host Coppin State at the Villanova Tennis Complex on Sunday, March 7, at 4:45 p.m.

Villanova enters Sunday's match following its most recent contest against UC Irvine in California. In that outing, the Wildcats were unable to secure a singles victory after dropping the doubles point.

Over spring break, Villanova also competed in the Pacific Coast Doubles Championship, with several Wildcat pairs appearing in both the main and consolation brackets. After opening-round matches in the main draw, Villanova teams continued play in the consolation rounds where the Wildcats found success. The duo of Quincy Jones and Jack Sherner led the way for Villanova with an impressive run through the consolation bracket. Jones and Sherner picked up multiple victories to advance through the field and earn a spot in the consolation final. The pair ultimately finished as runners-up after a hard-fought three-set match against Nadaul Cheam and Dylan Paterson (3-6, 7-5, 10-5), capping off a strong showing for the Wildcats at the event.

Coppin State enters Sunday's matchup after facing a challenging early-season schedule against several Division I and regional opponents. The Eagles opened the season with losses to Stonehill and College of Charleston before also falling to Thomas Jefferson. Despite those setbacks, Coppin State earned a narrow 4-3 victory over the University of the District of Columbia, securing its first win of the season as the Eagles look to build momentum moving forward.
