CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.—Sophomore sprinter Liam Gluck (Beavercreek, Ohio) posted a personal best time in the 400 meter hurdles and Villanova recorded several strong results at the Virginia Challenge on Friday evening. Gluck came in second in his heat of the hurdles at Lannigan Field and the Wildcats fielded entries in the hurdles, 100 meters, shot put and hammer on their first of two days of competition at the Virginia meet.
 
Gluck's time of 53.63 in the hurdles marked his second PR in the past seven days. He had posted a time of 54.69 at the Rutgers Relays last Saturday and cut that mark down by more than a second with Friday's result. Senior Ronan O'Neill (Wilmette, Ill.) tallied a season best time of 55.49 to finish fourth in his heat, while classmate Sal Barretta (Whitestone, N.Y.) posted a time of 56.06 in the same heat. Barretta had recorded his own SB mark of 55.25 at Rutgers last week.
 
The only other track event on Friday's Villanova schedule was the 100 meter dash in which junior Parker Turner (Los Angeles, Calif.) posted a time of 10.81 and placed fifth in his heat.
 
Competition in the hammer started the day and featured the pair of graduate student Tristan Bolinsky (Gordon, Pa.) and freshman Theo Hedgemon (Atlanta, Ga.). Bolinsky thew 53.76 meters in the second flight of the hammer and Hedgemon came in fifth in the first flight with a distance of 50.43 meters.
 
Later in the evening, freshman Yianni Papanikolas (Toms River, N.J.) led a trio of Wildcats in the shot put. He threw 15.44 meters, followed by sophomore Chris Coulter (Philadelphia, Pa.) with a mark of 14.64 meters and senior Liam Anderson (Lebanon, N.J.) who tallied a throw of 13.81 meters. Coulter added 17 centimeters to his season best mark and recorded the best outdoor throw of his career. He was just two centimeters off his collegiate PR of 14.66 meters set indoors in 2025.
 
Action concludes at the Virginia Challenge on Saturday with Villanova competing in the 200 meters, the 400 meters and the discus.
