Villanova Records More Season-Best Times at Lake Wheeler Invitational Finale

Two boats crossed the finish line in under seven minutes

RALEIGH, N.C. – Villanova saw more season-best times on Saturday as the team wrapped up their two days of action at the Lake Wheeler Invitational.

Two of Villanova's boats posted sub-seven minute showings in the final day of competition against nationally-ranked teams, including a team-best 6:43.960 by the Varsity 8 to close out the day.

"I'm proud of everyone who raced for the V this weekend," Head Coach Carissa Adams said. "It was fun to compete against some of the top programs in the country."

The 3V8 kicked off the second day of action yet again. Lorelei Cadorette, Ella Larken, Isabelle Rotival, Sarah McKee, Sofia Broughman, Callie Hopkins, Danika Gadient, Taylor Pansy and Lilly-Kate Foley posted a 7:12.226 time that put them fifth across the finish line. Their placement was the highest finish for the 'Cats on the day, edging George Washington by just over one second.

In the V4, Abby Shang, Emmi Stanton, Eliska Bohmanova, Anabelle Wang and Mary Eagle posted a 7:42.480 time for a seventh-place finish. That time marked a new season-best for that boat, shaving nearly five seconds off of their second round time of 7:47.470.

Kate Shipley, Sadhbh McDonnell, Natalia Brozyna, Nicola Ranone, Sabrina Pauli, Sarah Kearney, Silvana Torres, Abi Siddons and Mary Tracy made a six-second improvement in the 2V8 from Friday. They went 6:56.020 in their final outing for seventh place, also marking a new season best.

Much like Friday, Cate Donnelly, Maggie Coyne, Jalyn Colon, Sylvia Marks, Ava DeJong, Ella Cooper, Farrah Bardouille, Sarah Robillard and Natalia Peng produced a new season-best time in their final V8 heat of the weekend. They rounded out Nova's day of racing with a 6:43.960 time in their seventh place showing. That time marked the fastest time for any Villanova boat since last year's Lake Wheeler Invite when the V8 posted a 6:42.493 time in the final round of racing.

Villanova goes into a three-week layoff from outside competition to prepare for the CAA Rowing Championships on May 15 and 16 on the Cooper River in Pennsauken, N.J.
