New for the 2025-26 academic year, Villanova will announce its top performers from the previous week in a press release and social media post each Monday afternoon. The weekly wrap will recognize one standout student-athlete from each sport who competed during the previous week.

Â
VILLANOVA, Pa.—Senior golfer Ryan Pamer is tied for the lead entering the final round of the BIG EAST Championship on Monday, while the softball team wrapped up its 2026 season this past weekend with a three-game sweep of conference preseason favorite St. John's. The past week was a successful one on multiple fronts for the Wildcats, as the baseball team clinched a road series win at Georgetown and the track & field teams put up fast times at the Larry Ellis Invitational. Six student-athletes make up this week's edition of the Villanova Athletics Weekly Wrap sponsored by Zajac and Padilla.

Baseball
JoJo Montgomery
Sophomore, Outfielder, Buford, Ga.
Â
Montgomery had the best week of his collegiate career while helping Villanova win three of four, including a BIG EAST series win at Georgetown. He batted leadoff in all four games during the week and slashed .526/.571/.895 while going a torrid 10-of-19 at the plate with seven runs scored and seven runs batted in. Montgomery hit home runs in the first and last games of the three-game set against the Hoyas and added a double in the series opener when he was 4-for-6 with three runs scored and three RBI while finishing just a triple short of a cycle. Montgomery previously had three hits, an RBI and a stolen base in a midweek win over Saint Joseph's. The versatile sophomore has lifted his season stat line to a slash of .330/.361/.485.

Golf
Ryan Pamer
Senior, Hudson, Ohio
Â
There is still a round of golf to be played at the BIG EAST Championships, but Pamer was on fire Sunday in the first 36 holes of the tournament and is tied for the lead at 138 (-6) heading into Sunday's final 18 holes. A rainout of the scheduled first round of the championship on Saturday led to teams playing 36 holes on Sunday. Pamer carded a two-under-par score of 70 in the first round with remarkable consistency, recording 16 pards and two birdies in a solid round. He did even better in his second round of the day, carding six birdies while shooting 68 (-4) and surging up seven spots on the leaderboard into a tie for the lead with Cayse Morgan of Xavier.
Â
Men's Lacrosse
Lucas Newton
Senior, Attack/Midfield, Corona del Mar, Calif.
Â
Villanova concluded its season in the semifinal round of the BIG EAST Championship where it was defeated by No. 2 seed and tournament host Providence in a 14-7 result. Newton led the Wildcats offensively in the game with three points, including his sixth and seventh goals scored of the season to go along with an assist. This season was the best of Newton's collegiate career as his seven goals, 11 assists and 18 points were all collegiate season highs. Newton placed 16 of his 24 shots on goal this season while recording one man-up goal, six ground balls and a caused turnover.

Â
Softball
Kat Gallant
Senior, Pitcher, Monroe, Conn.
Â
Villanova closed out the 2026 season on a strong note with a three-game sweep of preseason BIG EAST favorite St. John's. Gallant had two strong performances in the series, pitching a complete game in the series opener for her third win of the season and then coming out of the bullpen to pitch a scoreless seventh inning for the save in a 1-0 victory in the series and season finale for both teams. Gallant was a stalwart on the Wildcats pitching staff during her collegiate career and wound up with 37 wins, five saves, seven shutouts and 307 strikeouts in 443 1/3 career innings pitched.

Men's Outdoor Track & Field
Dan Watcke
Junior, Middle Distance, Hinsdale, Ill.
Â
Watcke recorded an outdoor personal best in the 800 meters of 1:46.40 on Sunday evening in a meet at Duke. He was in vintage form, beginning his kick with 250 meters to go and passing five runners from that point on. Watcke moved up to second on the BIG EAST performance list in the 800 meters this season while tying the No. 11 time in the East region and the No. 23 time nationally. The only faster time of Watcke's career was his lifetime PR of 1:46.32 during the 2025 indoor season, while he cut two-tenths of a second off his previous top outdoor time.
Â
Women's Outdoor Track & Field
Zoe Mosher
Freshman, Distance, Pleasantville, N.S.
Â
Mosher ran a 3000 meter steeplechase for the first time in her career at Princeton last Friday night and instantly put herself into sixth place on Villanova's all-time performance list in the event. She recorded a time of 10:24.26 which ranks third in the BIG EAST this season. Mosher is the Wildcats third runner ever to break 10:30 in their steeplechase debut. The race was the latest in a series of strong results for Mosher, who had previously tallied PRs in both the 1500 meters and the 5000 meters this outdoor season. She established personal bests in the mile and the 3000 meters during the indoor season earlier this year.
