St. John's finally broke through in the top of the seventh inning. After a two-out single and a stolen base put a runner in scoring position, the Red Storm delivered another two-out hit up the middle to plate the game's first run and take a 1-0 lead.
The Red Storm added insurance in the ninth inning, continuing their success with two outs throughout the series. With a runner aboard, St. John's launched a two-run home run over the wall in right field to extend the advantage to 3-0.
Villanova was unable to respond in the bottom of the ninth, going down in order as the Wildcats dropped game two of the series.
