NEW YORK – For the second straight year, Villanova topped all BIG EAST schools with 392 members of the 2025-26 All-Academic Team which was announced by the conference on Tuesday afternoon. It's the 11th straight year in which more than 300 Wildcat student-athletes have garnered All-Academic recognition.

Nominations for the All-Academic Team are submitted by each of the BIG EAST's 11 member schools and six affiliate institutions. To be eligible for the honor, a nominee must have competed in a BIG EAST-sponsored sport, attained a minimum grade-point average of 3.00 for the preceding academic year, and completed a minimum of two consecutive semesters or three consecutive quarters of academic work, with a total of 18 semester or 27 quarter credits, not including remedial courses. 

There are 3,085 total honorees for the 2025-26 academic year. Georgetown was second to Villanova with 380 selections to the All-Academic Team, followed by Providence (286) and Connecticut (278).

Tuesday's news was another installment in a series of BIG EAST academic honors released in the summer. Last week the Villanova women's basketball and women's lacrosse teams earned the BIG EAST Team Academic Excellence Awards for the highest GPA in the conference within their sport.
