ANNAPOLIS, M.d. — Villanova golf traveled to the U.S. Naval Academy Golf Club to compete at The Goat, hosted by Navy. The Wildcats shot 888 (+36) to tie for ninth. George Washington earned the team win, shooting +4, and there was a three-way tie for the individual title. Carson Erick of Georgetown, Preston Burton for William & Mary, and Kai Jun Huang of UConn all shot two under to share the win.
It was a tale of two rounds on the first day of competition. The 'Cats exited round one sitting tied for 13
th, but shot the fourth lowest score in round two to move into 10th. Villanova shot +13 in the final round to finish tied for ninth.
Vibhav Alokam was Villanova's highest placing golfer, leading the Wildcats in two of three rounds and placing 16th. The junior shot 217 (+4) on the weekend, shooting 73 (+2), 70 (-1), and 74 (+3) in each of the rounds.
Evan Rohde was two strokes behind Alokam at 219 (+6). The freshman continued his strong start, placing 20th.
Cameron Besaw was the third Wildcat finisher, placing 37th. He shot 80 (+9) in the first round, but rebounded by shooting 70 (-1), which equaled his career 18-hole low. The junior finished it off with a 73-stroke final round.

AJ Colonna tied for 67th as the final two scoring 'Cats, shooting 233 (+20).
Ian Love shot 231 (+18) playing as an individual, placing 62nd.
Villanova is back on the road next week at the UConn Invitational. The three-day tournament will take place Sept. 27-29.
