Villanova Athletics is gearing up for 1842 Day, Villanova University's 10th annual day of giving, on September 29. Wildcats around the world will have the opportunity to support their favorite varsity programs while helping teams compete in the inaugural Wildcat Challenge, a fundraising competition with $100,000 in prize money up for grabs.
The Wildcat Challenge will reward varsity programs for performance in several categories including unique donor participation, first-time donor engagement, average gift size, alumni support, and year-over-year growth. The top overall program will earn the Varsity Cup along with a $25,000 prize for its sport operating fund.
On 1842 Day, a single gift to Villanova Athletics can have an even greater impact. Thanks to Caroline '92 CLAS and Michael Burns, an additional $300 will be unlocked with every gift to Villanova Athletics, up to $1,000,000. Supporters who give through a sport's designated giving page can also help that program compete for Wildcat Challenge prize money and, for many teams, take advantage of an additional sport-specific matching gift. Student-athletes will play a central role in this year's campaign through dedicated Champion Links that track donor engagement generated by team outreach efforts. Athletics teams will also participate in on-campus 1842 Day festivities throughout the day.
Every gift made through a sport's designated 1842 Day giving page supports the student-athlete experience and helps programs compete for Wildcat Challenge prizes. Villanova Athletics encourages alumni, parents, fans, friends, and supporters to join the effort and help make September 29 a championship day for the Wildcats.
