HAMPDEN, Mass. — Villanova golf is set to compete in the UConn Invitational at the GreatHorse Golf Course in Hampden, Mass. from September 27-29. This is the third year in a row where the Wildcats make the trip to this University of Connecticut-hosted tournament.
 
The Event
The UConn Invitational is a three-day event consisting of three rounds, totaling 54 holes. The first round will be played on Sunday, the second on Monday, and round three on Tuesday. Play will get underway for all three rounds at 8:30 am. The 'Cats are one of 14 teams competing in the tournament.
 
The Course
A relatively new course, GreatHorse opened in 2015. The course is a 7,093-yard par 72.
 
Wildcats Lineup
Vibhav Alokam will start in the first spot for the first time this season after being Villanova's top finisher last weekend.  He shot +4 at The Goat and placed 16th. The junior has competed in this tournament in each of the past two seasons. He placed 23rd last year shooting 220 (+5) and led the Wildcats in the 2024-25 season with an 11th place finish.
 
Evan Rohde will shoot second. The freshman placed 20th at The Goat last weekend and he was the second highest-placing Wildcat. He shot 219 in his second collegiate competition, scoring six over par.
 
Cameron Besaw will tee off in the third spot following his 37th place finish at The Goat. The junior shot +10 last week, including a 70-stroke second round, which equaled his career 18-hole low. Day one of the tournament will mark his 22nd birthday.
 
Nathan Marion is back in the lineup after not competing last week, and he hits in the fourth spot. The senior played this course last year, where he shot 221 (+5) and placed 23rd.
 
Luke Leonard tees off in the final spot of the lineup. The sophomore shot 228 (+12) on this course last year and placed 46th. He placed 67th at last week's tournament, totaling 233 (+20).
 
Michael Block makes his collegiate debut competing as an individual. The Haverford, Pa. native joined the golf roster ahead of this year. The senior was a four-time varsity golf letterman in high school at The Shipley School and was named his squad's MVP all four years. He won the league both individually and for his team during his senior season.
