NEW YORK — Villanova field hockey senior
Gemma Lysaght has been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, the conference announced on Tuesday. It is Lysaght's second career nomination to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll.
The weekly honor marks the second consecutive week that Lysaght has been selected as a weekly award recipient. After the opening weekend, she was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week following an 11 point performance across two games including a 10 point performance in the 'Cats win over LaSalle.
The senior continued to be a huge factor offensively for Villanova over the weekend, tallying three more points to push her season total to 14. In the action against New Haven, Lysaght notched her fifth goal of the season in the third quarter. She then added her fourth assist of the season when she helped set up Shannon Arber for her second goal of the season.
Lysaght's effort helped the 'Cats collect the 10-0 win over New Haven on Sunday and push the team to a 3-1 overall record. The record puts them in a five way tie for first place in the BIG EAST Standings.
Lysaght and the Wildcats are back in action on Friday, September 11, in a match up against Queens University of Charlotte at Snell Field at 12 p.m.
