Men's Track & Field Records

This page contains several documents that summarize and list in detail the all-time records and top-10 performance lists in Villanova history for each individual event and relay that the Wildcats have competed in. The first set of links directly below this text contain the absolute school records in each of the categories listed.  Please note that the first document with records for individual track events is separated into two categories; the first page lists records for common track distances while the second page lists the records for less common distances and defunct events.

SCHOOL RECORDS

For all categories, the absolute school record is listed, meaning the best mark is used regardless of whether it was recorded during the collegiate season or in extended season/international events (summer meets, Olympics, etc.). Continue reading further down the page to access the top-10 performance lists for each event.

PERFORMANCE LISTS

The table below lists the absolute school record in each event. Clicking on the name of the event (blue text) will open a one-page document with Villanova's top-10 list for that event. The best 10 marks are listed first, followed by the top 10 athletes who have competed in the event. For events that are contested both indoors and outdoors, there is an overall top-10 list followed by separate indoor and outdoor lists.

Please note that the following methodology, consistent with national reporting protocol, was used in putting together the top-10 lists.

The absolute school record is the best mark recorded by a Villanova athlete during their collegiate years, regardless of what point in the year the record occurred. The top-10 lists for each event are limited to the NCAA season of competition. Marks which were recorded during the summer or at international events (ex: Olympics) do appear in the top-10 list, but they are not numbered and are designated as not being considered an official collegiate mark. They are considered to be part of Villanova's historical record of competition.

Additional notes

No conversions were applied between similar events (55m/60m, 400 meters/440 yards, etc.). Each distance is treated as its own separate event with a unique top-10 performance list. The same is true of relays (4x400 meter relay vs. mile relay [4x440 yards] for example). The marks on each top-10 list are always the raw time or mark which was recorded, without consideration for external factors such as hand/automatic timing, wind speed for sprints/horizontal jumps, or for flat indoor tracks. Due to the inconsistency in the historical reporting of these external factors, all listed marks are the raw marks which were recorded at the meet.
