Looking to bounce back from its first home loss of the season, Villanova (4-3-6, 1-3-1 BIG EAST) faces a split weekend that takes it to Washington D.C. on Thursday to face No. 22 Georgetown (7-1-6, 3-0-3) before coming home Sunday for a Senior Day showdown with Marquette (5-6-3, 2-2-1 BIG EAST). The Wildcats area still in search of their first win in the month of October and their first in the last four games, going 0-3-1 in that stretch since opening BIG EAST play with a 2-1 win over Seton Hall on Sept. 24. With five games left in the regular season, Villanova is currently tied for ninth in the conference standings with four points. The top six teams will earn spots in the BIG EAST Tournament field.
After Sunday's contest, the 'Cats will honor 10 seniors who have combined for 219 starts in 315 games played. The group being honored includes Lauren Ashman, McKenzie Coleman, Rylee Donaldson, Abby Hanks, Sophia Kryza, Jackie Richards, Olivia Packer, Makayla Stadler, Emma Weaver and Payton Woodward.
The first matchup of the weekend takes Villanova on the road to face its second nationally-ranked opponent of the season. Georgetown fell 10 spots to No. 22 in the latest United Soccer Coaches poll after battling to back-to-back draws with Xavier and Seton Hall this past week. The reigning BIG EAST Champion Hoyas have consistently stayed in the national rankings this season, sitting as high as No. 10. They have yet to see a loss in BIG EAST play and are in the midst of a six-game unbeaten streak. They are currently tied for the top spot on the conference table with 12 points.
Marquette will travel to Providence on Thursday before making its ay to the Main Line for Sunday's match. The Golden Eagles bring a 3-2-1 road record into the weekend and are tied for sixth in the conference standings with seven points.
