Kayla Cono became the Assistant Cheerleading and Mascot Coach at Villanova University in 2025.
In her role, Kayla focuses on supporting students’ educational and professional growth through clear expectations and guidance. She acts as direct support to head coach Jamie Brodie's priorities for the program, including execution of practice activities such as skill development and the enforcement of proper safety processes and procedures daily. Kayla collaborates with other staff members on choreography for athletic performances and UCA College Nationals.
Kayla comes to the program with collegiate cheerleading experience from her time with the University of Delaware Cheerleading Team where she competed with the All Girl and Coed Game Day team. Kayla holds the titles of 4 Coed Game Day National Championships. Kayla has also spent her time as a UCA instructor for 4 years. Her primary expertise is rooted in All Girl cheerleading with over 10 years of experience. Prior to college cheerleading, Kayla competed with St. Hubert Catholic High School and Crispin Recreational Cheerleading, with both programs also holding multiple UCA National Championship titles.
Kayla graduated from the University of Delaware in 2024 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with Minors in Behavioral Health and Nutrition and Human Development and Family Studies. Kayla is currently in Graduate school working towards her Masters of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a concentration in Sports Psychology. Â
