Villanova Univeristy Athletics

Lenny Currier serves as the Assistant Director of Sports Medicine at Villanova University, a role he has held since 2025. In this position, he provides athletic training services for the Wildcats' Men's Lacrosse program while helping oversee the external operations for the Sports Medicine program.  Currier first joined Villanova in 2003 as Director of Sports Medicine, a position he held until 2019. He then served as Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine from 2019 to 2025 before assuming his current role.
 
Prior to arriving at Villanova, Currier enjoyed a distinguished career in professional sports. He was the inaugural athletic trainer for the Orlando Magic from 1989 to 1997 before serving as Head Athletic Trainer for the Philadelphia 76ers from 1997 to 2003. During his tenure in the NBA, he was selected twice as the athletic trainer for the Eastern Conference All-Star Team in the NBA All-Star Game (1992 and 2002).
 
Currier also contributed to USA Basketball, serving as an athletic trainer during the summers of 1998 and 1999. His international experience included assignments at the 1998 FIBA World Championship in Athens, Greece, and the 1999 Pre-Olympic Qualifying Tournament in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
 
Earlier in his career, Currier served as an athletic trainer with the Albuquerque Dukes, the Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers, from 1985 to 1988. He also spent two winter seasons in the Dominican Republic (1987 and 1988) as athletic trainer for the Leones del Escogido baseball club. From 1982 to 1985, he served as Head Athletic Trainer at the University of South Florida.
 
Currier earned a Bachelor of Arts in Health Education from Arizona State University in 1981 and a Master of Science in Physical Education from the University of Arizona in 1982. He obtained his NATA Board of Certification credential in 1982.
A native of Newburyport, Massachusetts, Currier is a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving from 1969 to 1973, including a tour of duty in Vietnam. He resides in Philadelphia with his wife, Lori, and their twins, Brendan ’27 and Olivia ’27.
