Former Ivy League Player of the Year and Hermann Trophy semifinalist Antoine Hoppenot was named an Assistant Coach at Villanova in February 2026.
From 2008-11, Hoppenot earned All-American honors as a standout at Princeton University. He was a third-round selection of the Philadelphia Union in the 2012 MLS Draft and later spent time with FC Cincinnati. Later, Hoppenot scored Detroit City’s first goal in USL championship history in a 1-0 win over Charleston Battery in February 2022.
He closed out his playing career with Hartford Athletic in 2023.
Fetrow quote: "Antoine is someone who understands the game at a very high level and, just as importantly, understands what it takes to be a great teammate and leader. Throughout his professional career he built a reputation for his work ethic, competitiveness, and love for the game. Those are qualities that will resonate with our players every day.
“We’re excited to have him join our staff and to share his experience with our program. I know our players will benefit tremendously from his perspective and the energy he brings to Villanova Soccer.”
