First Season at Villanova

Lacy Smith is in her first season with Villanova in 2022 and is serving as a volunteer assistant coach on the Wildcats staff. Smith is joining a Villanova program which is coming off a breakthrough 2021 season which included the first BIG EAST title and first NCAA regional appearance in school history.
 
Prior to coming to the Main Line, Smith was a standout player at ACC member Virginia where she was a first team All-American on the field and a three-time NFCA Scholar-Athlete academically. Smith played nearly every position on the field during her collegiate career and set single-season school records for home runs (15) and slugging percentage (.784) as a senior in 2019. She also had a school-record 16-game hitting streak during the 2019 season.
 
Following the 2019 season Smith was named a Softball America first team All-American. She was the only ACC player to garner first team All-America recognition from Softball America and she became the fourth All-American in the history of the Cavaliers program. Smith batted .414 as a senior in 2019 to notch Virginia’s first .400 season since 2007 and tally the third-highest single-season batting average in school history. At the time of her graduation at the end of the 2019 season, Smith was tied for fourth in the Cavaliers record book with 29 career home runs and ranked eighth all-time with a .543 slugging percentage.
 
Smith graduated from Virginia with a degree in Economics and Media Studies.
