2018-19: Chernik competed in 11 events as a junior, primarily in the freestyle events. At the BIG EAST Championships, he competed in four events and was named to the All-BIG EAST Team for his performance in the 1650-free and the 800-freestyle relay. This season Chernik recorded five new personal bests. Three of which came at the BIG EAST Championships. In the 200-freestyle she posted a time of 1:41.31, in the 500-free he touched the wall in 4:30.73 and in the 1650-free he clocked in at 15.47.44 which landed him a third-place finish. He also swam to a 10:02.98 finish in the 1000-freestyle against La Salle.

2017-18: Competed in six events as a sophomore, swimming primarily in the freestyle events. At the BIG EAST Championships, he broke three of his previous top times. In the 200-yard freestyle he clocked a time of 1:42.21 and in the 500-yard free he clocked in at 4:33.43. His last top time came in the 1650 free with a new time of 16:02.85. Chernik's top time of the season in the 1000-free came against Providence with a time of 10:16.81.

2016-17:Swam in three individual events at the BIG EAST Championships…Placed 8thin the “B” final of the men’s 500-yard freestyle at the meet…Had a 10thplace finish in the men’s 1650-yard freestyle…Finished in 8thplace in the “B” final of the men’s 400-yard IM…Primarily competed in the freestyle and IM events during the season.

St. Anthony’s:Four-year varsity letter winner under coach Daniel McBride…All-American, All-State, All-Long Island, All-League (2015, 2016)…Captain of the team that won the NYPHSAA State Championship (2016)…Named Newsday Scholar-Athlete of the Year (2016)…Recipient of the St. Bonaventure Award (2013-16).

Personal: Son of Norman Chernik and Anne Dunne…Has a sister, Alannah Chernik…Enrolled in the Villanova School of Business and wants to pursue a career in finance…Enjoys watching Netflix and going to the beach…Chose Villanova because of the prestigious academics and exceptional athletics.
