Biography

2022: Started all 16 games in goal as a senior. Totaled 139 saves for a .411 save percentage. Played a total of 922:46 in net. Totaled 13 saves against a ranked Rutgers (3/5) team. Had 14 saves against Cornell (2/19). Held La Salle (3/9) to only two goals after three quarters. Against a Michigan (3/20) team ranked inside the top-10, she allowed only eight goals, making six saves in a double overtime defeat. Will finish her Villanova career with the second most saves all time, totaling 489 over four seasons.

2021: Named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team. Played and started in each of Villanova's 17 games. Posted a 4-11 record on the season. Recorded 120 total saves on the season against 436 shots faced, a career high. Save percentage of .368. Also totaled 21 ground balls and for the third straight season, three caused turnovers. 

2020: Moro started all eight games in the net for the Wildcats and played every minute of the season. On the season, she had a 3-5 record, made 86 saves on 255 shots faced, and had a save percentage of .434. She recorded a season-high 18 saves vs. Princeton (2/26). She was named the BIG EAST Defender of the Week/IWLCA National Player of the Week after the Wildcat's 12-9 win on the road at No. 16 Navy (2/22). Against the Midshipmen, Moro made 12 saves and limited Navy to just nine goals. This was the first time that a Wildcat had been selected for an IWLCA Weekly Award.

Moro was again named named the IWLCA/StringKing Division 1 Defensive Player of the Week after her performance in the cage in Villanova's 13-11 win over local rival Temple (3/11). In what would end up being the last game of the season, Moro made 12 saves against the Owls, recording a save percentage of .522 on 30 shots faced, which includes 23 on goal, her second highest save percentage of the season. The goalkeeper also picked up three ground balls and caused three turnovers in 2020.

2019: Alexa Moro became a staple for the Wildcats in the net during her rookie campaign. The freshman keeper finished the season 9-6 after appearing in all 18 contests with 15 starts. She led the team with 144 saves on 415 shots faced and posted a .454 save percentage which ranked her third among keepers in the BIG EAST and 43rd nationally. Her 8.00 saves per game average also ranked her second in the conference. Moro currently sits fifth in all-time career saves per game (8.00), sixth in save career save percentage (.454) and ninth in the goals against category (11.12). She also ranks in the single season records, holding an eighth-place rank in saves (144). Additionally, she was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week four times, Defender of the Week once and earned a spot on the All-BIG EAST Second Team.

Staples High School: At Staples, Moro competed in field hockey where she was a midfielder, earned three varsity letters and was a two-time State Champion and lacrosse where she earned four varsity letters. As a lacrosse player she earned many different honors. In 2018 she was an All-American, an All-State selection, an All-County selection and was awarded the Jinny Parker Award. In 2017 she was an All-County selection, won the Staples P.R.I.D.E Award, and was in the US Lacrosse Women's National Tournament for Connecticut. Moro was also the team captain of her lacrosse team in 2017 and 2018 and was a finalist for HLA Most Outstanding Player Award. On her field hockey team, she was a two-time State Champion and a three-year recipient of the Coach's Award. Academically, she was on the National Honor Society, the National Italian Honor Society, was an AP Scholar, was a two-time recipient of the National Italian Exam Honor Mention and was given the Seal of Biliteracy. 

Personal: Moro is the daughter of Matthew and Antoinette, and has two brothers, Nicholas and Dean. Her father Matthew player on the Cornell lacrosse team. In her free time she enjoys hiking, kayaking and doing yoga. She chose to attend Villanova because of the excellent academics and school spirit.
