Biography

Career: The all-time Villanova record holder for points, goals and assists, Comerford left her mark on the Wildcat lacrosse program. Over the course of her career, she amassed 264 points, 153 goals and 111 assists. Comerford also holds three spots on the all-time season point totals, with the 2nd, 3rd and 10th most points in a single season. The same goes for assists, as she totaled the 3rd, 4th and 6th most assists in a season in program history. All five years as a Wildcat, she led Villanova in points, and finished three seasons leading the team in goals and assists as well. Her performance on and off the field was recognized year after year with multiple BIG EAST weekly awards, All-Conference nominations and numerous academic awards. 

2021: As a graduate student, Comerford looked to build off an already impressive career for Villanova. For the 2021 season, Comerford led Villanova with 38 goals, 29 assists and 67 points. Her 67 points rank as the second most in a season in Villanova history, along with her 29 assist being tied-fourth most. For her performance on the season, Comerford was named to the BIG EAST First Team All Conference. The Yorktown Heights native was twice named BIG EAST Attacker of the Week over the course of the season. First, after posting 11 points, with eight goals and three assists in a 1-1 home series split with Marquette, she led all BIG EAST players in points. For her performance in the week of April 12, Comerford was named BIG EAST Attacker of the Week, after scoring nine goals and five assists to propel Villanova to a 2-0 record for the week. Her success did not stop on the field, recieving two academic awards. She was named to the IWCLA Academic Honor Roll for surpassing the GPA requirement of 3.50. Comerford was also recognized as a BIG EAST Scholar-Athlete Sport Excellence honoree, an award presented to one student-athlete from each of the 22 sports in the BIG EAST. 

2020: The senior captain started in all eight games for the Wildcats, recording a team-high 20 goals. She also had six assists for a total of 26 points. She picked up eight ground balls and caused one turnover. Comerford had five games in 2020 where she recorded a hat trick or better: notching four goals at William & Mary (2/8) and Cornell (2/15), and scoring three goals vs. Princeton (2/26), vs. Temple (3/11) and at Harvard (3/7). Comerford was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll on Feb. 11.

She became Villanova's career leader in points in Villanova's 12-9 win on the road at No. 16 Navy (2/22), passing previous record-holder Shannon O'Neil (Villanova 1994-1997) who had recorded career 181 points. Comerford ended her Villanova career with a total of 197 points off 115 goals and 82 assists. 

2019: Comerford finished her junior season leading the Wildcats in points, placing second in assists and fourth in goals. The junior attack scored 23 goals, dished out 27 assists and tallied 50 total points. Her 27 assists ranked her sixth for all-time single season assists and 10th in single season assists per game. She also moved up the all-time career ranks in points, goals, assists and free-position goals. Comerford now sits at second in career points (171), 11th in goals (95), third in assists (76) and tied for 12th in free-position goals (12).

In a non-conference matchup against Drexel (3/9), she recorded a season high five assists and scored one goal to match her season high points total of six. Comerford’s season high goals scored came against conference opponent Butler where she scored four goals in her team’s 17-5 victory. She has also recorded 14 groundballs, has caused six turnovers and has won two draw controls. This season Comerford served as team captain, was named to the Weekly Honor Roll two times and was named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team.

2018: Started in all 16 games for the Wildcats during her sophomore year. Comerford led the team in points with 65 and assists with 33 and ranked third on the team with 32 goals. She collected 16 ground balls and caused five turnovers. She scored a season high six goals and four assists against Bucknell (2/21). She also tied her season high four assists against UConn (4/4). Comerford scored at least one goal in every game of the 2018 season.

2017: Competed in all 16 games as a freshman. She led the team in points, goals and assists. Comerford scored 40 goals and dished out 16 assists for a total of 56 points. She also collected 23 ground balls, caused 7 turnovers and recorded 4 draw controls. 

YORKTOWN: Two-time Hudson Valley All-American… Helped the Corn Huskers advance to the NYSPHSAA State Finals her senior season… Earned four varsity letters under head coach Ellen Mager… Scholar Athlete and Honor Roll student… Also played soccer and field hockey… Played for Metro Magic Club Lacrosse team for four seasons.
