Ty Bigelow serves as an Associate Athletic Trainer at Villanova University, a position he assumed in 2024 after joining the Villanova Sports Medicine team in 2019. In addition to providing comprehensive healthcare services for the Wildcats' Women's Lacrosse, Cross Country, and Track and Field programs, he oversees healthcare operations within the Sports Medicine program, supporting the delivery of high-quality health care across Villanova Athletics.

Prior to Villanova, Bigelow served as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer at West Virginia University from 2017 to 2019, where he provided care for the Mountaineers' Cross Country and Track and Field programs. Before his time at West Virginia, he completed an athletic training internship at the University of Richmond, working with the Football and Field Hockey teams during the 2016-17 academic year.

A nationally engaged athletic health care professional, Bigelow currently serves as Chair of the Scholarship Committee for the Eastern Athletic Trainers' Association (2026-present). He previously represented District III on the National Athletic Trainers' Association Student Leadership Committee. His commitment to service extends beyond collegiate athletics through volunteer roles with the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee Sports Medicine Program, the Boston Marathon medical team, and Special Olympics Pennsylvania. He also served as a medical provider at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials and has supported elite athletes at major endurance events, including the Pittsburgh Marathon and USATF Half Marathon Championships.

Bigelow is an active presenter and educator within the athletic training profession. He has delivered presentations at national, regional, and state conferences on topics including iron deficiency in athletes, venous thoracic outlet syndrome, psychological first aid, manual therapy, leadership development, and cervical spine injuries. Most recently, he presented Iron Deficiency in Athletes at the 2025 Alliance for Intercollegiate Sports Medicine Conference.

His scholarly contributions include peer-reviewed research published in the International Journal of Athletic Therapy & Training examining concussion assessment tools, as well as graduate research exploring ferritin as a biomarker of iron deficiency in collegiate female distance runners. His professional interests include event emergency medical planning and management, multidisciplinary healthcare and performance integration, iron deficiency, concussion management, and translating research into clinical practice.

Bigelow's leadership and service have contributed to numerous high-profile championship events, including the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Tournament, Big East Outdoor Track & Field Championships, NCAA Baseball Regionals, and Southern Conference Men's Lacrosse Championships. He also served as Conference Organizer for the 2023 Philadelphia Sports Medicine Summit and was recognized with the James Madison University Sports Medicine Director's Award in 2016.

Bigelow earned a Doctor of Athletic Training degree from Moravian University in 2022 and later completed a Master of Business Administration degree from Moravian in 2024. He also holds a Master of Science in Athletic Training from West Virginia University and a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from James Madison University.

Originally from Warrenton, Virginia, Bigelow resides in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Outside of his professional responsibilities, he enjoys discovering new music, voiceover work, traveling, exploring new destinations, and seeking out local coffee shops wherever his travels take him.
