2022-23: Appeared in nine events on the year with 10 races … Raced twice at the Navy Day regatta, finishing 29
th with the V4B shell (15:08.52) and 13
th with the V8A (13:20.60) … Part of the Championship 4s boat that finished ninth (14:44.858) and saw with the Championship 8s that crossed seventh (13:18.897) at the Head of the Schuylkill … Finished fifth with the V8 at the Doc Hosea (6:55.88) … Helped the V8 to a third-place showing in the Petite Final (7:09.11) at the Knecht Cup … Part of a V8 group that was sixth in the Grand Final at the Mason Invite with a time of 7:07.8 … Part of the V8 that posted a 5:57.97 winning time against UConn in head-to-head action and finished second to Bucknell in 6:03.73 … Helped the V8 to a fourth-place finish at the CAA Championships, crossing in 7:31.762.

2021-22: Competed in seven races on the year, primarily with the Varsity Eight … Part of Varsity Eight boat that was named CAA Boat of the Week in back-to-back weeks, the first such honors for the program … Captured fourth place at the CAA Championships with a 6:46.25 time … Part of back-to-back weekends that saw the Wildcats close the regular season with three wins … Landed in the Grand Final at the Mason Invitational, winning with a time of 6:30.5 … Defeated UConn by nearly seven seconds, crossing in 6:56.30 before taking down Eastern Michigan with a time of 6:39.28 … Helped the crew to a fifth-place time of 6:43.47 at the Knecht Cup … Crossed second in the dual with Drexel and La Salle, posting a time of 7:26.6 … Finished sixth with the Women’s Championship Eight grouping that crossed in 13:02.816 at the Head of the Schuylkill.

2020-21: Had a successful Villanova debut, competing in each of the events on the Villanova schedule … In an exhibition against Drexel which marked the Wildcats return to the water she competed in the 2-seat of the varsity eight boat … For the duration of the competition season competed in either the stroke seat or the 7-seat in the second varsity eight lineup … In the season opener against Delaware the 2V8 squad notched a first place finish with a time of 7:15.8 and beat the Blue Hens by 5.4 seconds … Helped the 2V8 team finish second in its heat at the Kerr Cup in 6:49.4 … Villanova won its heat at George Mason by seven-tenths of a second over Jacksonville and advanced to the grand final where the team tallied a third place finish in 6:59.7 … The second varsity eight finished third in 7:01.3 at the Kelly Cup and beat local teams from Penn and Saint Joseph’s … At the CAA Championships the 2V8 team came in third in their race with a time of 6:56.42.

Club Rowing: Competed for Row West Summer Racing Camp and was part of a 2018 USRowing Club National Lightweight 4+ championship.

Merion Mercy Academy: Earned three varsity letters in rowing … Named her team’s Most Improved Rower and was chosen as the Best Pound for Pound Rower as a junior … Helped her team win several championships at the regional and national levels … Part of two Stotesbury Cup titles, including winning the Lightweight 8 her sophomore year and the Lightweight 4+ her senior season … Her team also won PSRA City Championship titles in the Lightweight 4+ her sophomore and junior years and was an SRAA National silver medalist each of those seasons … As a senior her team was the USRowing youth national champion and the SRAA national champion in the Lightweight 4+ in addition to being a quarterfinalist at the Henley Women’s Regatta in the J4+ … Achieved Distinguished Honors status academically all four years … Winner of the Biology Award as a freshman, earned an honorable mention Physiology Award as a sophomore and won the Biotechnology Award as a senior.

Personal: Born 11/13/2000 in Philadelphia, Pa. … Younger of two children of Joe and Jeanine Welch … Has an older brother, Aidan, who played college baseball at Millersville … Hobbies include running, dogs and coaching … Chose to attend Villanova for its sense of community and school spirit … Felt proud and excited to be a part of the student body and to take advantage of the many opportunities on campus … Biology major.
