Career: Coming off of a major debut season that saw her compete in all seven races the team competed in during the year with the Varsity Eight … Named to the CAA Commissioners Academic Honor Roll four times and the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll twice.

2022-23: Raced in six events, mostly with the 2V8 … Helped the JV8 to a fifth-place finish at the Doc Hosea, crossing in 7:07.35 … Part of the V8 that finished third in the Knecht Cup Petite Finals (7:09.11) … Won the Mason Invite Petite Final with the 2V8 team, crossing in 7:35.1 … Competed with the 2V8 for a pair of second-place finishes against UConn (6:16.08) and Bucknell (6:17.99) … Turned in a fourth-place 2V8 finish at the CAA Championships with a time of 7:54.412.

2021-22: Part of Varsity Eight boat that was named CAA Boat of the Week in back-to-back weeks, the first such honors for the program … Competed in seven races with the V8, mostly in the 7-seat … Part of the V8 that finished fourth at the CAA Championships with a time of 6:46.25 … Left the Mason Invitational in the winning V8 boat that clocked in at 6:30.5 … Swept the dual with UConn and Eastern Michigan with victorious times of 6:56.30 and 6:39.28, respectively … Group posted a fifth-place 6:43.47 at the Knecht Cup … Finished second in the dual with Drexel and La Salle in 7:26.6 … Was the 4-seat for the unit that finished 16

Cathedral Catholic High School: Lettered in rowing all four years … Named a senior captain for the 2020-21 season and was voted team MVP by her teammates … Placed ninth in the nation at the 2021 SRAAs in the women’s varsity 4 boat, sitting seat 3 … Stroked varsity 8 as a sophomore at SRAA nationals … Received the Most Improved award and attended SRAA Nationals in the women’s varsity 8 as a freshman … Named to First Honor Roll in all four years … Member of the National Honor Society … Served as an Options Mentor for students with mental disabilities … Member of MADCAPS Philanthropic organization since 2015.

Personal: Born 03/08/2003 in San Diego, Calif. … Daughter of Ed and Mallary de Merlier … Has two siblings, George (21) and Claire (17) … Father, Ed, rowed at San Diego as a walk-on … Grandfather played football at Saint Vincent College … Enjoys listening to music, making people laugh, running, going to the beach and spending time with friends while working to help people and families, especially those who need justice and resources to cope with tragedies … Chose Villanova not only to row at the Division I level but because of its academic and athletic reputation, strong sense of community and care for students … Also saw coming to Villanova as an opportunity to move to the East Coast and honor her father, born in Philadelphia, who passed away from cancer when she was six … Still undecided on a major in the college of Liberal Arts.
