The 2015 season will be the second year at Villanova for assistant coach Ryan Sullivan. Sullivan is a 2012 graduate of Indiana and assisted the Hoosiers coaching staff by compiling scouting reports and game plans for BIG 10 conference matches. He worked with the Indiana offense as the setters coach in 2012 and with the defense as the libero coach in 2013. With Villanova, Sullivan has worked with the Wildcat setters and blocking schemes along with coordinating film study of Villanova game film and opponent's tendencies. Emma Pettit had a career year as Villanova's setter during her senior season under the tutelage of Sullivan in 2015. Pettit finished 14th in the country in total assists (1,367 assists) while also landing in the top 25 nationally in assists per set (11.20 assists/set). Her 1,367 assists in 2015 were the fifth most in a single season at Villanova. Villanova's major blocking numbers have all improved in Sullivan's two seasons with the 'Cats. The Wildcats had 215.5 total blocks in 2014 which was up 29 blocks from the year before. This season that number jumped even higher to 251.5 blocks, a 35% increase in his two years with the team. As an undergraduate Sullivan was a five-year captain for the Indiana club men's volleyball team. Sullivan led the team to three national top-10 finishes, including a final four appearance in 2011 when he was also named the conference Player of the Year. In addition to his involvement with the men's club team, Sullivan was also a practice player for the women's varsity team in 2008, 2010 and 2011. The team reached the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament in 2011.
