Wildcats Roll Past Drexel, 3-1

In volleyball action on Wednesday, Oct. 13, at Drexel University, the Villanova University volleyball team defeated the Drexel Dragons 3-1, by the scores of 15-3, 15-4, 10-15, 15-8. With the win, the Wildcats improve to 9-13 on the season.

Leading Villanova to victory were junior middle blockers Tina Zitterich (Ames, Iowa/Gilbert) and Breen Eddinger (Tacoma, Wash./Bellarmine Prep), who registered 17 and 16 kills respectively. Junior outside hitter Lara Smith (San Clemente, Calif./Our Lady of Peace) was outstanding as well, finishing the night with eight kills.

For Drexel in the loss, junior outside hitter Nancy Sgagliardich (Blauvelt, N.Y./Tappan Zee) led Drexel with 14 kills and senior middle blocker Courtney Krumrine (York, Pa./Spring Grove) had 10 in a losing cause.

Villanova senior Stacey Moline (Sagle, Idaho/Sandpoint) had 35 assists for the 'Cats, while Drexel freshman Gina Campanile (Franklin Lakes, N.J./Paramus Catholic) served up 30 assists.

The Wildcats will get back into action on Friday, Oct. 22, traveling to Morgantown, W.V., to play the Mountaineers in a Big East Conference match at 7:00 p.m.
