Villanova, Pa.--- On Tuesday, Dec. 14, the ECAC announced its Divison I-AA football All-Stars for the 1999 season. The Villanova football team had three players earn ECAC honors including sophomore wide receiver Murle Sango and senior linebacker Shaun Lyons who were named to the All-ECAC first team, and senior defensive back DeLonne Kelly who tallied second team accolades.
Sango had an outstanding 1999 campaign, as he led the nation in receptions with 98. In addition to his 98 catches, he also registered 1,064 yards and 10 touchdowns. Lyons led the Wildcats in tackles with 123, and added four sacks and six tackles for a loss. Leading the Villanova secondary was Kelly, who placed second on the team with 88 tackles, also recording one interception.
ECAC Player of the Year honors went to Hofstra quarterback Giovanni Carmazzi and James Madison running back Curtis Keaton. William & Mary quarterback David Corley was tabbed the ECAC's Rookie of the Year.
