Former Villanova University wide receiver Brian Finneran is playing in NFL Europe as a
member of the Barcelona Dragons. The Dragons are one of six teams that make-up the league
that includes the Amsterdam Admirals, Frankfurt Galaxy, Berlin Thunder, Rhein Fire and Scottish
Claymores.
In order to play in the league, a player must have participated in an NFL training camp at
least once during his career. Each team roster consists of 35 American players and eight non-American international players.
In the season opener on Saturday, April 17, Finneran helped lead the Dragons to a 28-17
win over the Admirals by making five receptions for 65 yards including a long of 27 yards.
Finneran, a 1998 graduate of Villanova, finished his career on the Main Line as one of the
school's all-time great players. The 6-5, 200 pound Finneran currently owns 19 Villanova school
records including career receptions (265), career receiving yards (3,872) and career touchdown
receptions (34). In 1997, Finneran was named the Walter Payton Award winner as the best
offensive player in all of I-AA football.
