VILLANOVA, Pa. - Villanova improved to 3-2 on the season with a 10-9 victory over the visiting Dartmouth Big Green. Villanova and Dartmouth fought back-and-forth throughout the entire match. The game was tied seven different times, but junior Clayton Greene put the Wildcats ahead for good with 2:23 remaining in the game when scored his only goal of the afternoon, giving the Wildcats the 10-9 victory.
Villanova managed to capture a 5-4 halftime lead with five different players scoring for the 'Cats. Andrew D'Amico, Andrew Bogle, Chris Corr, Tom Lasky and Chris Larson all scored first half goals.
'Nova came out strong to start the second half scoring the first two goals extending their lead to 7-4. But Dartmouth responded by scoring the next three goals before the close of the third quarter knotting the score at 7-7.
With 7:32 remaining, Villanova found themselves down 9-8, but the 'Cats refused to go down on their home turf. Christopher Larson scored his second goal of the afternoon with 4:34 left to play tying the game at 9-9. Then Villanova struck one more time when Scott Gegerson set-up teammate Clayton Greene who scored the game-winner from point blank range.
Villanova was led by Bogle and Larson who netted two goals apiece. For Dartmouth (1-1), Connor Price finished the afternoon with two goals and two assists. The Wildcats will return to action Sunday, March 28 when they travel to Drexel to face Dragons.
