VILLANOVA, Pa. - Michael Bradley, a 6-10 forward who played the past two seasons at the University of Kentucky, is transferring to Villanova University, head basketball coach Steve Lappas announced this evening. As a transfer Bradley will sit out the 1999-2000 season per NCAA rules and then begin play in 2000-2001 with two years of eligibility remaining.
A native of Worcester, Mass., Bradley started every one of Kentucky's 37 games in 1998-99. He established a new school record for field goal percentage (.657) and averaged 9.8 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. In his freshman campaign of 1997-98, Bradley saw action in 32 games for Kentucky, including five of six in the NCAA Tournament.
Bradley attended Burncoat High School in Worcester, Mass. In 1996-97 he was named "Mr. Basketball" in Massachusetts while averaging 35.6 points and 11.6 rebounds per game.
"We're very excited about Michael Bradley's decision to transfer to Villanova," Lappas said. "We feel his skills fit in perfectly with our style of basketball. There is no doubt we are looking forward to the time when Michael becomes eligible to play for us."
